Returned to hike favorite streams Cedar Run and White Oak Canyon on a wet day, wondering if a portrait of a loved place could be construed over time, and where the value lay in that. Seeking greens and colors of lichen seems reason enough for me. Where is the value in moss and lichen hues? Festoonment of hard surfaces, having a slow conversation with granite. Why does that attract? This rich looking clothing covering wood and stone sculpts with water and weather thousands of years. Original separate complete culture. Why does that matter? Some basic continuity carries on. Five questions.

I have no answers but I love 2 and 3. It is a beautiful place. I can see why you keep coming back.
