in 2011. “I could have chosen Asia or South America. I ended up in
Africa because the plane ticket there was cheapest.” (quoted in WaPo obituary I read after returning from our outing.)
Explains a little the impulse I have to visit other worlds close at hand (and get beyond not only European egocentricity, but while in the woods, etc. human egocentricity.)
