Two favorite places...I have photo'd the tree and the garden there many times. Very soon the witch hazel will be blooming. Perhaps, in lieu of extending our group by one week to make up for the snow day, we might visit witch hazels at the Cathedral.
I love your observation of the beautiful light in both of these. I think it is really hard to expose both the darks and lights at sunset or sunrise without under or over exposing one, but HDR can look so artificial, on the other hand.
